The sea of clouds is a natural phenomenon which is due to the trade winds, which push the clouds against the mountains of the north and northeast of Tenerife. The warmer winds from higher altitudes then prevent these clouds from rising, maintaining them at an altitude of +/- 1800 meters, and resulting in this stunning spectacle.
